The Hub

The Hub is a collaborative workspace.
There are hubs all over the world. And last week Tatiana started the conversation on a Hub in Amsterdam.
Thomas started a pod about the Hub here on Zaadz.
The objective of a Hub is to inspire and support social innovators to realise imaginative initiatives for a radically better world.
To start a conversation:
- how do you picture your hub?
- what happens there and who is there?
- what are your conditions for a succesful Hub?
- and what do you contribute?
Access: Public
The Hub is both a physical setting as a social setting. Important principles of a Hub are:
- connecting the dots
- diversity across disciplines
- serendipity, emergence and surprise
- it is about people
- host and hosting; there is a connector
- it works, the printer, fax etc.
- inspiration & inclusion of art and cultural activities
- no hierarchy
- creating an attractive space
- work is fun as is life
- lifestyle; we build it for us, authenticity
- it is time based; there is a shared ssence of space
- we are part of an ecosystem and need to flourish it like a flower
- …

Next steps in The Art of Hubmaking
We have defined some next steps in our hub-journey:
(1) Regularly check this weblog (and add to it yourself by sending text to thehubamsterdam@gmail.com">thehubamsterdam@gmail.com).
(2) A full-on Hubmaking work-day on april the 28th 10am to 16pm! Together we will look at the values and principles for us as Hub Amsterdam. Plus we will spend time on a couple of essential elements in building a Hub, where you get a taste of all domains and then pick on to focus on in the afternoon. We will have a couple people from Hub Rotterdam around (which just had it's official launch.., when will be the Rotterdam Hub-warming party, Moraan?) and an inspiring guest from the Hub London to share the story on how the Hub started out some years ago.
